.... On CBS's The Big Bang Theory's forums, that is.
Character bashing is on my list of absolute NOs in fandom.
There's an entire thread dedicated to how annoying Sheldon is. Why stop there? Why not have a thread about how grossly perverted Howard is? How so alcoholic dependent Raj has become when talking to women. How Leonard would chase any pretty girl that gives him the time of day. How Penny is slowly becoming dependent on alcohol and the guys and how it seems that she's become less social.
I'm sorry, but I can't take people seriously when they hate on characters. It's like when people would hate on Cameron. It made me feel uncomfortable and pissed off. I understand they're not real. That's not the point. It's just that I feel like I try and understand what the characters are really thinking and feeling, and when people take things at face-value, it makes me think they're too close-minded and too much of followers to actually think for themselves.
Characters are fictional people. Just like real people, they have flaws.
Sheldon, for example, IS very socially inept and is very honest about what he thinks of things/people and is very egotistical. But through the series, I'm hoping the writers will help him grow a little, to have him start to understand the world and how it works. They've already had him grow a little bit more.
That's what Penny is for. She's there to help the guys grow out of their little geeky shells. And in return, the guys are there to help HER grow as a person.
So haters (of any character, of any fandom), shut the hell up.
